I am absolutely thrilled to share with you the details of a recent family session I had the honor of photographing. As a photographer based in the charming city of Savannah, capturing the love and joy of Gabby, Taylor and their adorable 10-month-old baby girl, Ellie, was a privilege!
This session was also special as there is an extra layer of warmth and nostalgia because Gabby and I go way back – all the way to our high school days at St. Vincent’s Academy, an esteemed all-girls school nestled in the heart of Savannah, Ga.
It’s important to me to learn about my clients before, during and even after our sessions as their story makes a lasting impact on mine. So, I loved hearing about how Gabby and Taylor’s journey began eight years ago on Tybee Island, Savannah’s quirky little beach town. Fast forward to today, and their little family has been blessed with the arrival of baby Ellie 10 months ago. Gabby reached out to me wanting to get family pictures before Ellie turned one, and I was overjoyed to plan this session.
During our session, we ventured to a place close to my heart, my grandmother’s enchanting cottage on Whitmarsh Island. Affectionately known as Gonga, she has created a haven that exudes elegance and charm. The location seemed to perfectly align with Gabby, Taylor and Ellie’s spirit, showcasing a picturesque backdrop for their family session.
As Gabby shared, it felt like a natural extension of their own story, a place where their love could unfold and create timeless memories. She expressed how the location and ambiance were perfect for other families seeking an idyllic backdrop for their own sessions. I couldn’t agree more – the cottage is truly a hidden gem that just happens to be a personal favorite since it is my beloved Gonga’s oasis!
Gabby’s radiant smile and Taylor’s adoration for his two favorite girls were evident from the moment I began capturing. Ellie expressed an innocent joy that was contagious! Her expressive eyes and infectious laughter added an extra dose of magic. She definitely stole the show, which her parents were proud of! It was a privilege to witness and capture these precious moments shared between Gabby, Taylor and Ellie.
Throughout the session, I guided them with gentle prompts and posing suggestions, ensuring their connection and genuine emotions shone through each photograph. The result was a collection of images that beautifully encapsulated the love, tenderness and happiness this family clearly portrays.
Gabby was overjoyed with the outcome, which made my photographer heart burst! I’m thrilled that I was able to capture the sweet sentiments between this family. Adding to the fact that it was like a reunion between me and Gabby, it made it all that much more natural.
